
Go Build Training Manual
For students about to enter the job market, it can be frightening thing to face. Too many people looking for jobs, not enough people hiring. It’s a story we hear every day. But its not the whole story. American is currently facing a massive shortage of skilled construction workers. That means that any young men and women who are willing to work hard—and get their hands dirty—will be facing big opportunities.
The Go Build Training Manual is a digital textbook that promotes the skilled trades to Alabama’s middle and high school students. Built in coordination with the Go Build Alabama campaign and the Alabama Department of Education, this downloadable interactive eTextbook was even incorporated into Career Tech curricula across the state of Alabama.

Interactive eBook
As part of the larger Go Build campaign, this eBook explores America's growing need for a next generation construction workforce as well as the surprising opportunities of joining the skilled trades in an immersive experiential way. It includes touchable, scrollable, discoverable page content, animated interactive widgets, and 10 unique trade profiles that feature video interviews with real people who work in the skilled trades everyday.



Interative Widgets
In addition to the standard eBook pages and video media, there are multiple specialized widgets that expand fullscreen to allow students to dig deeper on a specific topic. While most of these widgets were built with the help the web development team, I designed, animated, and coded The Situation widget, shown below.
This project, and this widget in particular, will always be a highlight in my career. It hasn't been that often that I've been able to so succinctly exercize my cross-discipline skills in advertising, graphic design, and code all in one product.


Trades Profiles
The core of the Go Build campaign revolves around profiles of various common construction job categories. Originally written, shot, and produced for the Go Build campaign website, each provide includes a profile description of the construction job, typical wages, key skills required, and a video interviews with real tradespeople, and a link to the Go Build website database of similar jobs. The eBook provided an even more fluid and engaging vehicle for students to envision themselves in each job.
